A DREAM REALIZED:
Jimmy Cerchechio started this business from the ground up. His dedication & love for the property and all of the hard work that he put into The Rose of Sharon is the foundation of this business. I was not looking for a flower shop. I was happily managing a successful garden center to help support my flower habit. I had my own tiny flower field at our home in Groton where I did flower arranging for restaurants, weddings, & farmer’s markets as a “side gig”. When Jimmy made the decision to retire and sell, his realtor brought me the brochure of this unique business/home property, thinking that I might be able to help him with ideas for where to post the listing- and hopefully find just the right buyer! After giving him some suggestions & stewing on this for a few days, I decided to take a ride to Dunstable to check it out in person.
From the moment I stepped onto the property, I felt an indescribable magic about it. It was all so amazing- the shop with its charming character- the good fortune that Kim (New England’s designer extraordinaire) was willing to stay on after working for Jimmy for 23 years- the potential of the land for farming flowers- & the perfect, unique house sitting on the hill. I knew right away who the new buyer had to be! It was a challenge making it all happen, but when we purchased this property in 2013 I found myself unexpectedly living out my own fairy tale. As with all business ventures it comes with many challenges & requires a ton of work from our small but mighty team. But as my friend and mentor said (in his thick German accent) when he first came for a visit- “ You have won the lottery!”- and that is how I feel. So lucky.
We love being an active part of this amazing Dunstable community & hope you will visit the shop to experience the magic first hand!
